Greensboro, North Carolina — Attorney Petrova was elected Vice Chair of the Closely Held Businesses Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Taxation for 2017-18. As Vice Chair of the Closely Held Businesses Committee, Ms. Petrova will plan programming for continuing legal education and will engage in a dialogue with officials from the Department of Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service on some of the most critical tax issues of the day.
The ABA Section of Taxation provides a forum for private practitioners and government lawyers to share their knowledge and interact, professional development to members, technical and legislative comments to government, and pro bono resources for the underserved.
The Closely Held Businesses Committee covers all tax aspects impacting closely held businesses today, including corporate planning, estate and business succession planning, state & local tax planning issues and representation before taxing authorities. The Committee is involved in technical tax comment projects and sponsors a full day of continuing legal education at each of the three tax section meetings each year.
